Mario Fernández

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Universidad Santa María La Antigua with Magna Cum Laude and Honor Chapter distinction. He also holds a Master’s degree in Innovation with a specialization in Sports Business from Loughborough University in London, United Kingdom, with the highest distinction.
He pursued advanced studies in Creating Innovative Business Models at the University System of Maryland. He also participated in a two-month course on Small and Medium Enterprise Development and Promotion offered by the Japan International Cooperation Office in Tokyo, Japan. He also took the Entrepreneurship Agents Course from the PRODEM organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He served as an innovation community officer at the City of Knowledge Innovation Center from April 2017 to January 2021, promoting the innovation community, leading the strategy for attracting and retaining members, assisting startups and companies in technology, fintech, sports, education, among other industries. He supported the startup acceleration and investment program, the women’s entrepreneurship program, and the incubation program through talks,
promotion, and mentoring. He conducted innovation workshops in business idea development, problem-solving, design thinking, business model canvas, elevator pitch, among others.

Additionally, he supported the financial analysis of startups and early stage companies from the different programs of the center.
